Bio:
Nat Sarkissian is a generative artist interested in impressionistic, abstract, and simulated systems.
His work has involved various studies of representational work, as well as experiments with geometry, light, and color.

Artist Statement:
Floof on the Run is a generative art project stemming from a previous work of mine, Dubious Floofs (2022). It is about small, fluffy creatures (floofs), that urgently explore around their grassy, flowery world. They run, hide, jump, and glide, until they just can't anymore.

I built this project with pen plotters in mind, so everything is rendered in two colors and straight lines. This means I can create physical work from this in many ways. For now, that is animated and still pen on paper, and pen on glass ornaments. Underlying all of this, is the semi-interactive game. Making images or animations from this work turned into an unexpected combination of puppeteering and wildlife photography. Sometimes trying to observe the floofs until they did something interesting, or intervening and placing visual elements in specific places.
