Product Description

Bantam Tools HandWriter® is a high-speed handwriting machine for producing personalized letters with a real pen on real paper. Built for standard letter formats, including US Letter, Legal, and A4, it supports repeatable customer outreach, including thank-you notes, donor appeals, prospecting letters, invitations, and follow-ups.

HandWriter is a complete system out of the box. Every machine includes Bantam Tools Studio™ the Text Add-On, now available for all machines that run Studio and included with every HandWriter. Paste a message from your clipboard for a one-off letter, or merge a spreadsheet of names, order details, giving history, and offers into a batch of personalized letters. Over 40 handwriting styles are included, and the Bantam Tools Handwriting Defect Engine varies letter size, spacing, and line placement. Add Bantam Tools Font Maker for iPad (sold separately) to write in your own handwriting.

HandWriter writes with ordinary off-the-shelf pens held vertically. Jobs run from a microSD card. HandWriter also includes early access to USB and Wi-Fi file transfer, a new feature for Bantam Tools Studio Writing Machines. An operator loads each sheet; built-in paper indexing lines up the next one. HandWriter produces a full-page letter in about 8 minutes, or approximately 50 letters per machine per working day. It also works as a general-purpose pen plotter for standard paper sizes. Designed, built, and supported in Peekskill, New York.

Does HandWriter use real pens?

Yes. HandWriter writes with ordinary off-the-shelf pens on real paper, held vertically. Tested pens include Bic, Pilot G2, Pentel EnerGel, Pilot Precise, Uni-ball, and Zebra Sarasa. For fountain pens or 45° instruments, see the Bantam Tools NextDraw™ series with NextDraw Merge™.

What software is included?

Bantam Tools Studio™ and the Bantam Tools Studio™ Text Add-On are included.  No separate handwriting software purchase is needed.

Can it write in my handwriting?

Yes. Bantam Tools Font Maker for iPad and Apple Pencil (sold separately) captures your letterforms and up to three signatures, then exports a single-stroke SVG font for Studio or a TTF for use anywhere.

Does every letter look identical?

No. the Bantam Tools Studio™ defect engine varies letter size, spacing, indents, and line placement. Compatible variable fonts like Bantam Tools Font Maker fonts and Quantum Enterprises Scriptalizer fonts also alternate character versions.

How many letters can it write in a day?

About 4-8 minutes per full-page letter, or roughly 50 per machine per working day. Results depend on message length, settings, pen, and how promptly an operator changes paper. The operator loads each sheet manually. For a fleet, multiple machines can run from one microSD workflow.

Does it load paper automatically?

No. The operator loads each sheet and starts the next job. Built-in paper indexing positions each sheet.

What paper does it take?

US Letter, Legal, A4, and A9 envelopes, including cardstock. Any sheet 8.25–8.75 in wide and at least 5.75 in long. For thicker media or larger sizes, see Bantam Tools NextDraw™.

What’s the difference between the Domestic and International Edition?

The International Edition is CE certified and ships with an international power supply. Otherwise the machines are identical. Domestic (US) ships with a US power supply.

Does it need a computer while writing?

No. Prepare files on Mac or Windows, then run jobs from microSD, USB, or Wi-Fi.

How long does setup take?

Hardware setup takes a few minutes. Your first template takes some fine-tuning. After that, Data Merge turns a spreadsheet into a batch.

Can multiple people use one machine?

Every Bantam Tools HandWriter® includes one license seat for Bantam Tools Studio™ with the Text Add-On, allowing installation on one computer. Additional seats are available for teams that need to use the software on multiple computers. Contact sales@bantamtools.com for multi-seat licensing options.
