Peter Beyls, Jenn Karson, Paul Rickards
Join us on Friday, April 17 from 6 to 8 PM at our Peekskill space for the Machine Arts Gallery Residency Showcase, featuring work from Peter Beyls and Jenn Karson.
This exhibition explores what happens when artists engage directly with tools, not just as outputs, but as collaborators in the creative process.
What to Expect
This residency brings together two distinct artistic voices, working from different perspectives under a shared constraint: every piece on view was created in the past week at Bantam Tools headquarters, with full access to our lineup of art machines.
Peter Beyls presents work rooted in generative systems and algorithmic thinking, building on decades of exploration in computer art and investigating emergent behavior within rule-based systems.
Jenn Karson brings a background in AI research to a hands-on, material-driven approach, translating computational ideas into drawing and motion that emphasize both precision and physical presence.
Paul Rickards joins the residency as an expert in vintage pen plotters, exploring color through their mechanical language while bringing deep knowledge of their history, mechanics, and expressive potential into a contemporary, process-driven practice.
This is not a retrospective. It is a snapshot of what happens when artists are given tools, time, and a focused environment to explore.
You will see work that is immediate, experimental, and deeply connected to process, from pen-plotted drawings to machine-assisted paintings, all created on-site over the course of a single week.
