The first WaterColorBot was created as Super Awesome Sylvia's WaterColorBot by Evil Mad Scientist in collaboration with James and Zeph Todd. Zeph was interested in entering a painting machine into the RoboGames competition, and together they contributed to both the concept and software development of that machine based loosely on the configuration of an Etch A Sketch. Initially launched in 2013 on Kickstarter, the WaterColorBot was demoed at the White House at a science event.
The new Bantam Tools edition honors that spirit of creative engineering, preserving the charm and accessibility of the original design while upgrading every component to modern, professional standards. Developed under the guidance of Windell Oskay, now CTO of Bantam Tools, it continues the legacy of innovation that made the first WaterColorBot a beloved tool for artists, educators, and makers worldwide.
"We’ve reimagined the WaterColorBot from the ground up for a new generation of artists, educators, and makers. It’s the newest member of our family of precision creative machines, with entirely new hardware and software."
said Windell Oskay, CTO of Bantam Tools.
