Key Feature

All-in-One Bundle for Untethered 8.5" × 11" Drawing with NextDraw

The Bantam Tools NextDraw™ 8511 is a proven, reliable computer-controlled plotter that delivers versatile solutions for artists, innovators, educators, and handwriting enthusiasts. With an 8.5×11" (or A4) plot area, it’s the smallest and most popular model in the Bantam Tools NextDraw™ series. It offers the same power, speed, and advanced features as the larger machines, but in a compact form factor tailored to standard paper sizes—making it an ideal fit for creative projects, classroom use, and personalized handwriting applications.

The Bantam Tools NextDraw™ SVG Player is a standalone controller designed for untethered plotting, offering an intuitive interface, USB flash drive access, batch plotting, and pause/resume control, perfect for classrooms, handwriting farms, and production workflows.

The Letter/A4 size Magnetic Easel is a heavy-duty, sturdy work-holding tool perfect for positioning paper or other workpieces, offering versatile positioning with binder clips, rulers, magnets, and magnetic spring clips.

Description

The Bantam Tools NextDraw™ 8511 SVG Player Bundle includes everything you need to start plotting 8.5" × 11" works, untethered from your computer. Designed for untethered operation, this setup is ideal for classrooms, handwriting farms, and production environments where simplicity, speed, and reliability are key.

At the core of the bundle is the Bantam Tools NextDraw™ 8511 pen plotter, our most compact and popular model. Built for precision and speed, it handles everything from common writing implements like technical pens, markers, and fountain pens, making it perfect for artwork, notes, and repeatable production tasks. Its open-front design allows for drawing directly on materials larger than the machine itself. While it excels at traditional plotting, we’ve also seen users push its capabilities with wild experiments—mounting UV lasers, glue dispensers, and vacuum pickup nozzles to explore creative automation, light fabrication, and beyond.

The Bantam Tools NextDraw™ SVG Player, also included, is a plug-and-play controller that eliminates the need for a computer. Insert a USB flash drive with your SVG files, use the simple touchscreen interface to start, pause, or resume plots, or automate batch jobs through folders. Whether you're running a single file or a queue of hundreds, the SVG Player keeps your workflow moving.

To hold your workpieces securely, the bundle also features the Letter/A4 Magnetic Easel. Made from heavy-duty magnetic steel, it provides a stable, non-slip base and comes equipped with rulers and magnets for fast, repeatable setup. It's designed to protect your pens while maintaining alignment even during high-speed plotting.

Together, these components deliver a complete, standalone plotting solution, no laptop, no cables, just press play.

What's In The Box

What is the Bantam Tools NextDraw SVG Player?

The SVG Player is a standalone controller that lets you run your Bantam Tools NextDraw™ or AxiDraw plotter without a computer. Just plug in a USB drive with SVG files and start plotting.

Do I need a computer to run the SVG Player?

No; the SVG Player runs independently. No tethered computer required, just plug in a USB flash drive and go. (You do still need a computer, somewhere, to create your SVG files.)

Is it compatible with AxiDraw machines?

Yes. The SVG Player works with all Bantam Tools NextDraw™ plotters and all models of AxiDraw from Evil Mad Scientist (after a free firmware update).

Can I run files in batches?

Yes. Load a folder full of SVGs onto your USB drive and the SVG Player will automatically load files to plot them in order, one after another.

Is a USB Thumb Drive Included?

No; a USB Flash Drive is not included. The Bantam Tools NextDraw™ SVG Player is compatible with standard USB flash drives.

How do I format the USB Stick?

FAT, FAT32, or EXFAT

Does it support multi-layer or multi-color plotting?

Yes. The SVG Player supports NextDraw Layer Control syntax, allowing you to plot by layer number.

Can I track how long each plot takes?

Yes. Each plot shows a real-time progress bar with elapsed and remaining time estimates.

What file formats does it accept?

The Bantam Tools NextDraw™ SVG Player runs on SVG files. These can be exported from most vector design tools or from Bantam Tools Merge software.

Can I pause and resume a plot?

Yes. The touchscreen interface allows you to pause/resume plots at any time, and shows time tracking for both elapsed and remaining time.

Does it work with Bantam Tools Merge output?

Yes, SVG Player can take advantage of the new stack file export in NextDraw Merge to load a folder of prepared svg files to make plotting them easy.

Can multiple people use it?

While the SVG Player is designed to run only a single plotter at a time, multiple people can share the same Bantam Tools NextDraw™ SVG Player; no login is required. Each user can bring their own USB flash drive and plot. The interface is easy enough for students, gallerists, or assistants to use with just a quick introduction. For larger teams or classrooms, the system scales easily with additional units.

Is any programming required?

There is no programming required. The Bantam Tools NextDraw™ SVG Player is designed to be plug-and-play with no coding needed.

Can it help me scale handwriting or plotting production?

Absolutely. The SVG Player is a cost-effective way to run multiple plotters simultaneously without in-depth training or buying more computers.

Do you sell the software separately? Can I run it on other hardware?

No; The Bantam Tools NextDraw™ SVG Player is only available as a complete hardware/software product. Please contact sales@bantamtools.com if you need a custom solution.
