Bantam Tools Software Updates: What's New in 2.3.6?

As we see more users prototyping aluminum parts, circuit boards, and more, helping you keep your Bantam Tools CNC machine running at optimal performance is always top of mind for our team. This month’s Bantam Tools Milling Machine Software (2.3.6) release comes with a new Clean-Up Wizard. This new routine will make your clean-up process more efficient so you can move onto your next job faster.

Whenever you’re cleaning your Bantam Tools CNC machine, you’ll want to have the following materials and tools on-hand:

  • Safety glasses

  • Vacuum cleaner with narrow wand attachment

  • Lint-free wipes

  • Brush

  • Isopropyl alcohol, 91%

Additional materials you may need or want are:

  • Disposable gloves

  • Soap and water

  • Source of compressed or canned air

Note: If you’re cleaning the mill using compressed or canned air, you may want to wear a safety mask to avoid inhaling fine dust particles.

CLEANUP ROUTINE

In the Settings tab of the Bantam Tools Milling Machine Software, you’ll see a new “Run Clean-Up Wizard” button in the Program Settings dropdown menu. After you’re finished milling your job, go to the Settings tab and select this button to launch the wizard.

Once you have your shop vacuum ready, click Start. The machining bed will move to the back of the mill. If there are any chips or dust on the rails on the X- or Y-axis, use a brush or lint-free wipes to remove them. Then use your vacuum to remove the chips from the floor of the machine. When you’re finished, click Next and the mill will automatically jog to the next position.

Important: Make sure your hands are outside the machine before you click “Next” and do not start cleaning until the carriages have stopped moving. Failing to do so can result in injury.

ADDITIONAL CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE RESOURCES

To prolong the lifespan of your Bantam Tools CNC machine, we recommend performing routine maintenance checks and routines, as well as cleaning your machine after each job. See these guides for additional information on best practices.
